DJ Tira lands acting gig in upcoming movie, ‘My Zulu Wedding’
DJ Tira lands acting gig as he expands his resume to feature on the big screen.
DJ Tira will join a cast including Kelly Khumalo, Pallance Dladla and international actors Darrin Henson and Carl Anthony Payne in the upcoming movie, My Zulu Wedding.
In an interview with Drum magazine, Tira talks about how acting has always been on his dream board. “It’s something I always wanted to do. That’s why I gave it my best.”
He goes on to explain how he got the role, which cements his talent: “I just got a call from the production, which means they believed I could act, so I went for it.”
It’s one thing to get a call to audition because you’re famous; it’s another thing when you can actually pull it off, which he did.
It’s all entertainment
DJ Tira did clarify that he will not be deserting the decks in order to pursue a career in acting; however should an opportunity arise he’ll be sure to take it.
“You need to have talent, just like in music, but it’s not that different. You need to know how to act because I know how to sing, so acting is a different type and I’m happy with what I did. When recording a song, you do it over and over again until you get it right, same as acting,” the DJ said about the difference between the two art forms.
He worked with crew from the US and said it was fun because they’re “cool guys,” he says.
For the DJ, the biggest challenge was doing what the directors asked. ”The director wants you to act some stream in a certain way so it took me some time to get to understand the role,” he added.
