DJ Mahoota plans to spend R1m on his birthday party
DJ Mahoota will be turning 52 soon! The Trompies star – real name Zynne Sibika – is going to spend one million rand to celebrate his birthday in style this Friday at a Sandton nightclub. Predictably it’ll be at Taboo, which seems to be the go-to venue for lavish events.
He has more than 50 acts booked and although it simply sounds like a grand birthday bash, from the instagram image below he seems to have some sponsorship too with the Department of Tourism (sounds like a handout to be honest), Channel O and the SABC all on board to help pay those bills.
It’s not all just unbridled fun, some of the night’s takings are going to be donated to Maitiso Abagolo which is a nonprofit organisation based in Soweto.
Last year DJ Mahoota donated 300 school uniforms to Hlokomelo Primary School in Limpopo, 300 food parcels to Maitiso Abagolo and 40 iPads to Rantailane High School in Ga-Rankuwa.
He told City Press….
“My dream is to change the world and change the lives of those who cannot help themselves.”
This year is not just a normal party. I have booked more than 50 artists and DJs. There will be three different dance floors and every dance floor has its own theme.”
The lineup includes some of SA’s top house DJ talent such as Heavy K, Euphonik, Oskido, DJ Tira, Black Motion, Uhuru, Lulo Cafe and more…
The good news is that the party is also open to clubbers at R 150 a ticket so, aside from the massive lineup of DJs, if you’re into spotting a celeb or two this could be the place to be since his parties attract celebrities and high-profile politicians with a 300-strong VIP guest list mooted for the event.
