AGNT.COM aims to provide simple DJ booking app
AGNT.com is sort of like Tinder for DJs and promoters, minus the swiping.
In an industry where ‘knowing people’ helps to get gigs, it’s often tough for DJs starting out to get booked.
Gigs get you followers and followers get you gigs, but how can you crack into the initial gig scene that will catapult your career?
AGNT aims to dissolve the struggle by creating a marketplace for both promoters and DJs where they can connect and find their perfect gig matches.
DJs create profiles stating the music they play, their availability and fee as well as uploading mixes, while promoters can offer up slots at events on their profiles.
This allows match-making to ensue and time slots to be filled, even by those that are lesser known.
This service is currently only available in the USA and Canada with a strong growth in these areas.
The USA and Canada are vast countries; could this app work on our home soil here in SA?
We have a flourishing electronic music scene from Kwaito beats to house, techno and psy-trance so it’s safe to say we are abundant in DJs, events and promoters.
Though our scene is exploding, it still consists of close-knit ‘factions’ within the genres.
There is talent lurking all over our country waiting to be unearthed and unleashed on dance floors which leads me to believe that yes, this app could definitely work here in SA.
As a DJ, getting yourself out there and creating a brand is a vital part of gaining followers and in turn, gigs, so maybe an app like AGNT.com could help do this in the future.
