5 Reasons to get Sprung at Alien Safari
There are so many reasons why Sprung 2015 being held at Silverstroom is such fantastic news.
Did you know that in the late 90’s and early 2000’s, trance pioneers Vortex and Alien Safari used to host an event at Silverstroom each year?
The legendary Simon Posford (Hallucinogen / Shpongle) played in South Africa for the first time at an Alien Safari at Silverstroom in 1998.
Funny Moment: The Alien Safari crew decided to plug straight into the street lamps at the camp site to power their sound system and the lighting. What they didn’t realise was that at 6 AM on Sunday the lights would go off and they’d suddenly have no power. Luckily there were a few clever hippies around to figure out how to get the power source going again and after about a 1/2 hour the party was back on!
Vortex hosted an annual event there at the end of January with Tuyoshi Suzuki as their headliner and these were traditionally the biggest parties back then.
Funny Moment: It’s also the venue where he famously had a pie thrown in his face for playing music that was too housey. Fortunately this happened after he’d finished playing at the bar and not during his set. It was done partly as a joke so it did not ruin the good vibes on he day.
Silverstroom is also just 30 minutes from Cape Town so it really is a great location.
And it’s on the beach! Who doesn’t love a good beach party?
But most importantly it’s a venue that has genuine psytrance history in Cape Town and hopefully all the old tranceheads will come out of hibernation and join the new psytrance crowd for one massive ‘skop’ on the 5th of September.
Earthling and Zero One Records
Who was there for Earthling’s incredible 3 hour set at Vortex in December two years ago?
That was without a doubt one of the most incredibly magical daytime dancefloors for some time.
Celli aka Earthling is one of the top psytrance DJs and producers on the global circuit and he also does all the A&R for Zero One Records which also includes Sprung headliners K.I.M, Chromatone and Everblast; their music is the real deal when it comes to genuine psychedelic music. We’re in for a treat at Sprung with a nice big dose of Zero One psychedelia.
E-Clip was scheduled to play at Groovy Troopers last year in April. Sadly he fell ill and could not make the trip. So this will be his first ever visit to South Africa. E-Clip’s sound is typified by rolling basslines and layers upon layers of super psychedelic progressive sounds. Don’t expect any pop trance from this Serbian psy-warrior. He will be closing Sprung so you can expect phat, layered progressive beats to the end.
All the pretty fairies will be out
Cape Town has the most beautiful women in South Africa! And many of them love their trance. Spring time is when all the gorgeous fairies come out to play once again and what better place to do it than at Sprung – a beach party with good vibes, great music and crazy people.
Don’t believe me? They say a picture tells a thousand words.
So will all the boys be out…
Yes girls all the boys will out too! Cape Town boys aren’t too shabby themselves.
But let’s remember that the real beauty is in the soul and it’s these beautiful psytrance souls…
positive and slightly bonkers
clan of individuals
that stomp to the beat every year….
that is the ultimate reason to get your Sprung on at Silverstroom on 5th September.
